COC Nederland is the oldest and one of the largest organizations in the world that defends the interests of LGBTI people. Our organizational mission is the social recognition, acceptance and emancipation of LGBTI people in the Netherlands and worldwide. COC does this using a trove of personal and professional expertise, knowledge, courage, and positivism of more than 1500 volunteers and 45 employees. On an international level, COC is active in 35 countries and works with approximately 140 grassroots organizations in-country. Its international programs have a broad scope and several programmatic approaches to reaching the vision and mission as stated above. COC actively chooses to focus on the human rights of LGBTI internationally, and utilizes various means to reach the fulfilment of the same.

The intern will work within the international department of COC, based out of Amsterdam, together with the communications officer. They will work on the implementation of the communication strategy, create and curate new content for the international website and will actively source for new and creative means to portray the international work of COC. List of Tasks:

  • Create new content for the communication channels of COC’s international department.
  • Maintain and update COC’s international website.
  • Undertake research on communication needs of COC.
  • Support in the redevelopment of COC International’s communication tools and mediums.
  • Support in the implementation and fine-tuning of COC’s international communication strategy.
  • Proofread articles and support in the design of infographics and other visuals.
  • Support in the design of a campaigning strategy and/or organizing events.

Functie-eisen en profiel

  • A curious and creative personality, who has a background and interest in communication and writing. The applicant must be enrolled as a student for the entire duration of the internship.
  • Availability for at least 3 days a week for a period of 6 months.
  • Ability to work independently and produce compelling content.
  • Ability to communicate in English is a must.
  • Affinity with SOGIESC and the field of human rights.
  • Ability to work with Adobe CC or other graphic design software would be a plus, but not necessary.
  • Knowledge of Dutch or French is a plus, but not necessary.
